Expressway safety and management under adverse weather conditions

The climatic conditions are components of road environment, which have important influence on traffic safety. In this article, meteorological factors were classified. Accident data of the Shanghai-Hangzhou expressway and corresponding meteorological materials were comprehensively analyzed. On the basis of counting the accident distribution under different weather conditions, the characteristics of the accidents such as accident causes, accident types，accident severity and accident pattern were studied. The safety management system was developed and researched backing on the Shanghai-Nanjing expressway.
