Ship traffic simulation and its characteristics parameters analysis with cellular automata model for partial reduction waterway on automatic identification system-based

Abstract:

Considering lane partial repair or close caused by an accident, ships have to change to another lane to move on. On the base of cellular automata model on AIS-based for partial reduction waterway, a numerical example is presented to analyze the effect to waterway transit capacity by different precaution area length and ship arrival rate, and the function of ship density-velocity (flux) is obtained; finally, suggestions are given to increase the waterway transit capacity. The simulation method and conclusions could help to explain some complex phenomena of marine traffic.
