Applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach to analyse investment efficiency of transportation projects

This study investigates the investment efficiency of transport transit project supported by finance. In this paper, firstly it puts forward the index system of investment efficiency; Secondly, DEA method is developed to take empirical researches on investment efficiency, and the technological efficiency, pure technological efficiency and scale efficiency of 13 DMUs is carried out. Some important conclusions are obtained: technology efficiency, pure technology efficiency and scale efficiency are all at the highest level for project 1, project 3, etc; while for project 2, project 9, project 10 and project 12, not only their pure technical efficiency is less than 1, but their returns to scale are decreasing; input redundancy and output deficiency problem do exist for project 2, project 10 and project 12.At last, a series of practical and feasible suggestions and countermeasures are put forward.
