Abstract:

A new adaptive control method for urban road traffic signals is proposed to solve the problems of long average vehicle delay time and large number of queues on urban roads during large-scale sports events. Firstly, the complexity of urban roads during large-scale sports events was analyzed, and a quantitative model was constructed to evaluate lane complexity and relative complexity based on conflict probability. Subsequently, traffic flow management and allocation strategies were optimized through phase sequence optimization models and total delay optimization models. Finally, by combining three modes of fixed period adaptive control, fixed step action control, and variable step action control, a reward function was designed and trained iteratively to achieve dynamic optimization of traffic signals. The experimental results show that the average vehicle delay time of the method proposed in this paper does not exceed 15 minutes, and the queue length is always less than 20 vehicles.
