Analysis of the impact of transportation infrastructure investment on regional economic resilience from the perspective of complex networks

Against the backdrop of multiple shocks to regional economies, enhancing economic resilience has become the key to achieving sustainable development. This article starts from the perspective of complex networks and regards transportation infrastructure as a network system composed of nodes and edges, studying the impact mechanism of its investment on regional economic resilience. Based on panel data from a certain province from 2004 to 2024, a composite transportation infrastructure investment network consisting of 110 nodes and 455 edges was constructed. The entropy weight method was used to construct a regional economic resilience index from three dimensions: resistance recovery, adaptation regulation, and innovation transformation. Empirical analysis using spatial Durbin model and geographic/economic distance matrix. The results indicate that investment in transportation infrastructure has a significant promoting effect on regional economic resilience and has a marginal diminishing effect, Regional economic resilience exhibits significant spatial dependence, and spatial spillover effects are more pronounced under the economic distance matrix.
