Risk assessment method for road traffic safety around campus based on traffic conflict classification and mutual information method

The diverse participants and limited spatial capacity of road traffic around the campus have made it a high-risk area for road safety risks. Based on this, this article conducts research on the risk assessment method of road traffic safety around the campus using traffic conflict classification and mutual information method. Firstly, based on the subject types, behavioral characteristics, and spatiotemporal distribution patterns of traffic conflicts around the campus, conflict classification is carried out, Secondly, the mutual information method is introduced to quantify the correlation strength between various features and conflicts, and to screen key risk factors, Finally, establish a multi factor weighted risk assessment model to achieve risk assessment of road traffic safety around the campus. The experimental results show that the proposed method has a fast convergence speed of fitness values, with a risk benchmark deviation controlled between -0.45% and 0.30%, and better evaluation accuracy and stability.
