Abstract
The basis for driving simulator research, training and clinical applications resides in the development of scenarios that produce the desired independent and dependent variables of interest. The independent variables include the tasks and events relevant to the driver behavior of interest, and the dependent variables consist of measures of this behavior and related system performance. This paper describes a process that has evolved for dealing with complex driving scenario development and validation given a specific procedural approach for scenario definition and programming.
